Delinquente "Tuff Nutt" Bianco Pet Nat

This year's Bianco Pet Nat from Sherwood Estate in Loxton North, owned by the Proud family, reaches new heights in flavor and texture, presenting a lush yet refreshing profile. The wine exudes ripe tropical fruits from the nose, while the palate shifts towards citrus elements, featuring preserved lemon and a briny saltiness. It retains a touch of residual sugar after fermentation ceases in the bottle, creating a gentle fizz and a creamy lemon curd sensation that envelops the palate, offering satisfying length and generosity. The high acidity ensures the wine quickly disappears from the bottle. It is fermented in stainless steel using wild vineyard yeast and bottled under crown seal to finish fermenting, achieving a lightly sparkling Petillant Naturel style. Notably, the Proud family's estate hosts Australia's only planting of Bianco d’Alessano, a late-ripening, aromatic variety that thrives in the hot, dry Riverland climate and retains acidity exceptionally well.
