Alexis Hudon "Groseille" VDF 2023

Though a relative newcomer to winemaking in the Loire, Alexis Hudon has quickly gained recognition among the region’s greats. Originally from Quebec, he spent a decade as a sommelier specializing in natural wines in Quebec City and Montreal before making the leap to winemaking. His journey began in 2014, when he worked his first harvest alongside esteemed producers in Burgundy and Anjou.

Following that experience, he returned to Paris, deepening his knowledge of natural wines at renowned spots like Clamato and Coinstot Vino. By 2015, his passion for winemaking led him to a full-time role with Lise & Bertrand Jousset in the Loire. Four years later, in 2019, he established his own cellar, sourcing organic fruit exclusively from friends in the Touraine AOP—80% from Saint-Aignan and 20% from Montlouis-sur-Loire—despite not owning vineyards himself.

Hudon’s involvement extends beyond sourcing; he actively works in the vineyards, tending to 4 hectares of land with meticulous care. He prunes vines, nurtures the soil, and hand-harvests with his team before transporting the grapes in small crates to his cellar in Bourges for vinification. While he still lends a hand at Jousset when needed, he released his first independent vintage in 2018 with 500 cases, a production that tripled by the following year.
