Château l'Argentier 2021 Vieille Vignes de Cinsault

Château l'Argentier 2021 Vieille Vignes de Cinsault

This comes from vines planted between 1967 and 1969. Old enough to have serious character but still vibrant. Cinsault is an old black grape with white juice, probably originally from Provence, that settled permanently in Languedoc and the Rhône Valley. Most people know it as the backbone of Mediterranean rosés, but when Élisabeth and François Jourdan vinify it as a red, it becomes something special: a light-bodied red wine that actually exists in southern France.

Aromas of red fruit with flavors of raspberry, strawberry and plum make this a really enjoyable, light, easy-going wine. Beautiful freshness and fruit concentration on the finish, with a hint of lavender. Very low acidity and a beautiful balance between vibrancy and roundness. Think peach, raspberry, currant, pomegranate, strawberry, and nectarine.

This is the rare red wine you can chill slightly and drink on a warm evening. Easy, juicy, uncomplicated in the best way. Perfect with: Grilled vegetables, pasta with light tomato sauce, charcuterie, or nothing at all!
