Jean-Paul Brun Terres Dorées Côte de Brouilly Gamay

  • Producer: Jean-Paul Brun
  • Region: Beaujolais, France
  • Varietals: 100% Gamay
  • Alcohol: 12%

Jean Paul Brun, based in Charnay, Southern Beaujolais, is renowned for creating delightful wines at his family's 60+ hectare estate. Emphasizing "old-style" Beaujolais, Brun diverges from regional norms by using indigenous yeasts for a purer Gamay expression, avoiding artificial enhancers like industrial yeasts and excessive sugar. His low-alcohol, minimally filtered wines focus on natural fruit flavors and aromas, with minimal S02 to maintain freshness. Brun's expanding empire now includes over 20 wines from various Beaujolais crus, showcasing his commitment to authentic winemaking.

The 2021 Côte de Brouilly is an introverted, medium-bodied Gamay wine, displaying lively notes of plums, cherries, licorice, and spices. With vines aged 40 to 55 years, facing east on a steep slope with poor granite and iron soils, it follows traditional Burgundian vinification, including 3-4 weeks of maceration and concrete aging for 6-8 months. Time may allow it to fully unveil its potential.

Kolfok Intra! "The Wild" Blaufrankisch Rosé

  • Producer: Kolfok
  • Region: Burgenland, Austria
  • Varieties: 100% Blaufränkisch
  • Alcohol: 12%

To know and love Kolfok is to know and love Blaufrankisch. The word Kolfok has its origins in a regional dialect and describes an unconventional thinker. Winemaker and Kolfok proprietor Stefan Wellanschitz was born into winemaking at the family's estate in Neckenmarkt, a winery that dates back to the early 19th century, to a time when this part of Burgenland was still Hungarian and not Austrian. How’s that for legacy?! He started making his own wines in 2013, with an eye towards a more natural approach to winemaking. The rest is history! Kolfok is one of our favorite wineries because Stefan’s wines are always made with love and care, but the result is precise and always in perfect balance.
The 2nd vintage of Stefan's highly sought after rosé! Organically farmed Blaufränkisch from a cool vineyard site. Some clusters were left intact and whole, some were partly destemmed before being put in a semi-closed container for a slow and cool native yeast fermentation that lasted into November. The juice was moved by gravity into 1200 liter used Austrian barrels and allowed to age without intervention, stirring or additives. Bottled in February. It is a lightly spiced rosé with enough structure to make it a fabulous food accompaniment. We are so excited to bring in this stunning example of Kolfok natural wines!

Limus "Mt. Gambier" Heritage Cider
  • Producer: Limus Ciders
  • Region: Mt. Gambier, Australia
  • Varieties: Apple Cider
  • Alcohol: 6.6%

Kyatt Dixon, owner and winemaker of Limus in Mount Gambier, South Australia, focuses on organically farmed Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling, and heirloom apples and quinces. His winemaking approach is preservative and additive-free, emphasizing community engagement and sustainable labor practices. Dixon, with minimal experience in conventional agriculture, embraces a hands-on, quality-focused method in organic viticulture, facing challenges like variable yields and labor-intensive practices. Limus, named after Dixon's fascination with seaweed, showcases his commitment to authentic, locally influenced winemaking.
Limus Heritage Apple Cider is a delicately balanced old-world-style hard cider crafted from basket-pressed mystery cider apples at the Apple Farm. Fermented in old French oak for around 12 months, it achieves carbonation by adding a small amount of fresh fermenting juice from 2021 at bottling, resulting in a fresh and refined beverage.
