Mission Tres White (shown below!)
- Producer: Mission Wines
- Region: Galicia, Spain
- Varieties: Godello, Treixadura, Doña Blanca, Albariño, Loureira
- Alcohol: 14%
Mission "Tres" 2020 by Mission Wines is an expressive white blend from Galicia, composed of 85% Godello, Treixadura, and a touch of Doña Branca. Sourced from two distinct vineyards in Quiroga and neighboring Valdeorras, the grapes thrive in 100% slate soils, imparting a clear minerality and structure to the wine.
The 2020 vintage saw a hot, dry summer in Quiroga, causing the grapes to ripen faster than usual for the region. The lack of humidity resulted in healthy fruit with exceptional phenolic maturity. Harvested by hand in early September, the grapes from Quiroga were foot-stomped and left to macerate for three days before fermentation in neutral 400L barrels. The Godello from Valdeorras was pressed and combined with the fermenting must. The wine then aged for seven months in barrel, followed by an additional six weeks in stainless steel.
With a modest amount of skin contact, Mission "Tres" delivers both texture and body, all while maintaining freshness and elegance. Expect aromas of stone fruits, citrus, and herbs, alongside a minerality that defines its slate terroir. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood, tapas, or fresh Mediterranean dishes, offering a true taste of Galicia.
