1. Las Jaras "Big Beautiful Buff" Albariño (shown below!)

  • Producer: Las Jaras
  • Region: Lodi, California
  • Variety: 100% Albariño
  • Alcohol: 12.5%

The 2023 vintage Albariño from the Big Beautiful Buff series showcases sexy, crisp white wines. This Spanish variety is renowned for its fresh, saline, and mineral-rich profile. To preserve its vibrant character, the grapes were picked early and fermented and aged in various vessels, similar to their approach with Chenin Blanc. The result is a wine with true varietal character. In the glass, it gleams like opaque sunshine, offering aromas of apple blossom, Meyer lemon, and honeydew melon. The bone-dry palate delivers flavors of yellow nectarine, white cherry, and wet rock, culminating in a long, savory, and mouthwatering finish. We love this delicious Albariño!! Cheers!! xx

2. Cary Q Wines “Vibes” Picpoul (shown below!)

  • Producer: Cary Q Wines
  • Region: El Dorado County, California
  • Variety: 100% Picpoul
  • Alcohol: 12.5%

This wine, crafted by queer Latina winemaker Cary Quintana, features Picpoul grapes from Terra Alta Vineyard in Clements Hill, Lodi. It's all-natural, with native yeast fermentation, aged in stainless steel, and bottled unfined, unfiltered, with minimal sulfur. This wine offers more body than typical southern French versions, with bright citrus flavors, a pleasant creaminess on the mid-palate, and silky smooth freshness reminiscent of high acid-jazz. It has notes of pineapple pulp and budding spring flower blossoms, citrus and white melon. Not a common grape found in California, Cary Q has mastered Picpoul! Perfect for a summer day on the porch! Here’s to summer!!!

3. Christina Gruner Veltliner (shown below!)

  • Producer: Christina Wines
  • Region: Göttlesbrunn, Carnuntum region, Austria
  • Varieties: Grüner Veltliner
  • Alcohol: 12.5%

At Flask & Field, we've completely fallen for Christina's Grüner Veltliner! Nestled in a uniquely cool microclimate near the banks of the River Danube, this vineyard benefits from refreshing breezes that perfectly balance its aromatic flavors and vibrant acidity. The soil, a blend of red gravel and loess, receives meticulous care from dedicated farmers committed to certified organic practices, ensuring each grape thrives under the best conditions.

Meticulously hand-harvested grapes, delicately pressed as whole clusters, and left to ferment spontaneously in stainless steel tanks within the cool confines of the cellar. This slow, deliberate process results in a wine that bursts with the crispness of green apples, subtle notes of lime, and a delightful hint of that distinctive peppery spice—an unmistakable taste of Austria in every sip!

Ideal companions for this Grüner Veltliner include crispy fried chicken, delicate seafood dishes, or indulgent classics like Wiener Schnitzel or pork knuckle, perfect for a genuine Austrian dining experience. Christina Grüner Veltliner is left unfiltered, preserving its natural essence and allowing it to showcase the true character of the vineyard and the dedication of its winemakers.

A testament to the artistry of winemaking and the terroir that shapes it, with each glass, you can taste the passion and commitment poured into every bottle. Cheers!!
