Tasting Room: Forthave Spirits

As legend has it, while the plague ravaged Europe in the 15th Century, a botanist named Richard Forthave created a popular herbal tonic as protection. 

Forthave Spirits believes in crafting spirits that are natural and delicious. They look towards history for inspiration for every one of their botanical spirits and approach every aspect of the production and supply chain with care.

BLUE Gin: An American Dry Gin infused with 18 botanicals including juniper, grapefruit and mint. It is unfiltered so it will create a pearlescent effect when poured over ice or when mixed with tonic.

MARSEILLE Amaro: Based on the secret recipe of four medieval thieves. They were caught stealing from plague victims in Marseille. In exchange for clemency, they revealed their secret concoction. With notes of cinnamon, eucalyptus, and honey, this amaro can be enjoyed neat or in a variety of cocktails.

RED Aperitivo: A bittersweet aperitivo infused with 13 botanicals including orange, chamomile and rose. Perfect mixed with soda water or grapefruit juice, on the rocks with lime, or in a Negroni.

The St. Laurent grapes love warm days, as they do cooler nights, and most importantly windy places – like the Edles Tal. Our warm pannonian climate in combination with the cool winds from the River Danube therefore brings ideal conditions for this elegant variety. The grapes are able to ripen, while also keeping their typical fresh acidity, which makes the St. Laurent wines very interesting and charismatic.

THE NAME: GADABOUT- Noun: A habitual pleasure seeker. A person who travels often, or to many different places, especially for pleasure.

The Gadabout will always be white, delicious and very well priced. The blend of vineyards and appellations to get there will evolve, but it will always be a crowd pleaser, as a quencher that brings pleasure.

Rhine Hall Spirits

Rhine Hall focuses on fruit brandies, a European-style brandy otherwise known as eau de vie or schnapps. Their process starts with thousands of pounds of fresh fruit sourced from local farms, which is chopped, fermented, distilled, and bottled in-house. No flavorings, sweeteners, or neutral spirits are added to any of their products — each bottle contains roughly 25lbs of fruit and that’s it. This creates a spirit that is not sweet, but embodies the essence of the fruit in both taste and aroma.

Rhine Hall Apple Brandy
Created using up to 8 varietals of apples from local farms in Southwest Michigan in each batch of their Apple Brandy. A mix of sweet, bittersweet, and tart apples gives a consistent and balanced product that is a true expression of apple.

Cocktails: Old Fashioned, Jack Rose, French 75, Manhattan
375ml | 40% ABV / 80 Proof

Rhine Hall Pear Brandy
Created using Bartlett pears from local farms in Michigan for our Pear Brandy, which are most comparable to Williams pears in Germany. This variety creates a silky, aromatic product with a very juicy, ripe finish.

Handcrafted in Sonoma, JARDESCA is the ideal marriage of the vineyards and the gardens of California. Made from a delicious blend of 3 artisanal wines. Jardesca White features Viognier at the heart of the blend. Jardesca Red has a heart of Zinfandel.Then we infuse and enliven a double distilled fine grape eau de vie with 10 botanicals. Key botanicals for Jardesca White Aperitiva include pink peppercorn, pink grapefruit and bay leaf. Key botanicals for Jardesca Red include tangerine, ginger and cardamom. Finally we marry and balance the blend to create Jardesca California Aperitiva is the perfect opening drink!
